Homebuyer Readiness Courses

If you have any interest in buying a home someday, this is the place to start. The Roxbury Center for Financial Empowerment offers this workshop on the third Thursday of the month.

In this workshop, you will learn:

– How a mortgage works and how to get one
– How a credit score affects your ability to get a loan
– What are the upfront cost with buying a home
– Where you can get free resources to make the process easier

Introduction to Financial Coaching & Credit Building

A good credit score saves you money by opening the door to cheaper loans, better credit card offers, and greater job and housing opportunities. Fortunately, a credit score doesn’t depend on how much money you have; it only depends on your ability to follow some basic rules. In this workshop, you can learn the formula to increase your credit score and the opportunity to work one-on-one with a Financial Coach!

Worth and Wealth Seminars

Registration is now open for Cohort II of the Worth & Wealth Seminars. Participants will attend a kick-off event, followed by a month of weekly webinars where they will receive training from financial and legal experts on the following topics: salary negotiation, understanding worker rights, mapping and achieving financial goals, investing money strategically, and more! Each week, attendees will be entered into a raffle with a chance to win Visa gift cards.

Cohort II is designed for women who might have more experience with personal finance topics. These seminars are sponsored by Citizens and other local community organizations across MA. This series is by women and for women in Massachusetts. This second cohort kicks off on Wednesday, March 2nd, at 6pm and you can learn about the other two cohorts and their timelines on their website.

This program is brought to you by the Massachusetts State Treasurer’s Office of Economic Empowerment and made possible by a grant and volunteer support from Citizens to the Economic Empowerment Trust Fund. We are grateful to Citizens for creating pathways to financial literacy for women across Massachusetts.
